Overthrow Of The Heart

Love once reigned in my heart
But it has been deposed
Because I didn’t try to keep you
The coup went unopposed

Now loneliness reigns supreme
That Prince of misery
If I had fought to keep you
You might still be with me

A 'what if' poem, in which the lone voice considers what could have been in his relationship.
